PINCHING MYSELF

Sometimes, in life, you are led down a path where you find that you are pinching yourself from the opportunities given to you. That’s exactly how I felt when the fabulously talented Kristy Rice of Momental Designs contacted me to shoot the styled shoot she was putting together to feature her new partnership with Envelopments and the amazing “trellis pattern” they have created together.

And then, today, I found myself pinching again when I saw my images from the shoot featured on the front page of Green Wedding Shoes. Pinching so hard, I might have bruises now. Maybe.

So, please do me a favor and GO SEE FOR YOURSELVES. It’s the work of the amazingly talented Kristy, as well as several other fabulous professionals I was lucky enough to meet and work with while there (please see the bottom of the GWS post for all the resources and links).

By the way, do a double take and you’ll realize that’s the lovely Danielle Pasternak there on the left. Love that girl to pieces!

CHRISTIE & DAVE’S NEW YEARS NUPTIALS

When Christie contacted me to shoot a portrait session in Lancaster, I was a little confused. Christie & Dave were married earlier in the day, and wanted someone to capture their newlywedded bliss afterhand. In downtown Lancaster. Having been to Lancaster (also affectionately known as “Amish Country” for its large Amish population) earlier in the year, I knew that they would have some fun locations in mind, but wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

Come to find out, downtown Lancaster is, well, it’s like downtown anywhere else. Cute little shops. Hotels. Normal buildings, offices, and paved roads. My mind was blown. Nonetheless, Christie and Dave were indeed full of the happiness of newlyweds. And, Christie couldn’t have been more adorable in her entirely-Anthropologie ensemble (bestill my heart). Plus, I have to admit, there is something so fun – so magical - about getting married during the holidays.

Many well wishes to Christie and Dave as they celebrate six months of wedded bliss. Thanks for letting me capture you in this moment! xo.

And, my favorite, because it looks like he’s whispering sweet nothings into her ear. Nothing beats that.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

A few weeks ago a friend of mine innocently asked something along the lines of “So, uhhh, have you been shooting at all?” Initially, I was a bit peeved at the question. Hadn’t she been following my work? Hadn’t she seen my most recent sessions!? I began to start back at her, “well, yea, haven’t you…” and then it hit me. I HAVEN’T BLOGGED IN DAYS. No, I take that back. I haven’t blogged in weeks. Rather than her posing a silly question, I was about to give her a ridiculous response. Of course she wondered if I had been shooting because I hadn’t posted almost any of it. WHAT WAS I THINKING!?

So, I’ve sneak peeked a few sessions over the last few months, but ultimately it seems I fell off the “blogging wagon.” You see, I got so caught up in doing the work that I, uh, well, I guess I just forgot to blog about it. Whoops! But, no more excuses. My New Year’s Resolution? BLOG MORE. So instead of giving more excuses for all the things I’ve been doing instead of blogging, here’s all you have to look forward to in the upcoming weeks…

Wedding videos make me cry. Like, honestly, really cry. I usually try not to watch them. Because when I do, I just get so emotional.

Don’t get me wrong, as a photographer, I stand by feeling that your photos are one of the most critical parts of your day. But, if the budget allows for it – if you can make the budget allow for it - I think that a wedding video is an amazing addition. Videos capture something that photos cannot. The movement. The voices. Something that cannot be recreated. Emotion and reactions that just cannot be fully captured in still.
