Here are just a few favorites from our afternoon together. I think if you can tell anything from these images it’s that David makes her happy. Very happy. And I couldn’t love that about them any more.

And, since my posting of this session is epically late a bit belated, here’s a sneak peek from their October wedding in Savannah, Georgia. Cannot wait to share more of those!

Originally sneak peeked here. Here are a few of my favorites. Well, I tried to just pick a “few” but we all know how well that has worked for me in the past. I am, quite possibly, the most indecisive person ever in the history of ever a little bad at making decisions.

Be sure to read my commentary between the images for explanations – particularly regarding some of the questionable images (e.g. the horse, the chick-fil-a, and some of the bizarre expressions on the dance floor).

What is that? A piece of hair? Oh yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. Brittany chopped off the extra bit of hair that just wasn’t falling right. That’s commitment, I tell ya.

And then, on to portraits.

They were playing beer pong moments before this happened…. does it then surprise anyone then that we ended up with this? So funny.

So, here’s another good one – we were going for this shot [below].

But while making it, ended up with this, which I think I might like even better (them all looking down like that wasn’t staged at all).

And then, in the middle of portraits, a white stallion seriously came almost out of no where. So random. But, he was so pretty!

I don’t usually include two of the same image [below], but it was too funny not to share. The image we were going for was on the right. The image on the left totally wasn’t staged either… the groom legitimately had to yawn… which ended up being hilarious, actually.

Seriously, isn’t Brittany incredibly gorgeous? I can’t get over her eyes. Amazing.

And then on to the reception, well, almost. Not even joking you… the bride and groom grabbed some Chick-fil-a first. One of the many ways they stole my heart (I may or may not have a slight obsession with the place). And you know I couldn’t leave that undocumented.

And then really onto the reception…

And then, the most epic moment happens. The groom steps on the bride’s dress, literally ripping a hole in it. Thankfully, the most laid back couple ever laughs it off and keeps dancing. But seriously, look at the expressions of the groom and the bridal party in these two shots.

I love it when Grandma gets out on the dance floor. Then you know it’s a good party.

Brittany promised Shawn that if they ever got married that she’d do shots with him on their wedding day [she had never done them before]. Check out that reaction! Haha, Brittany, you’re my hero! What a champ.

If you’re thinking “that looks like one of the bridesmaids cleaning the dance floor” that’s because it is (someone spilled a drink). With her feet. While dancing. Seriously, these girls were great.

And in the true spirit of “saving the best for last” – the groom, peeking his eyes through the hole he made in her dress. And yes, this went in the album.

Thank you Brittany and Shawn for letting me be a part of such a beautiful day that was SO MUCH FUN. You guys are truly one of a kind and I’m honored to have been able to document this for you. xo.

Do you have any special treats that you like to make just for football-watching? Any must-haves? I’m always looking for new recipes!

With a morning ceremony, Kayla & Jonathan were able to skip the bridal portraits and head straight to the reception to enjoy their guests with a lovely brunch. And, because the day started so early, after all was over, were able to enjoy lengthier portraits without a rush or time constraint. Their day was relaxed, enjoyable, and oh so sweet. …totally pulled up next to the groomsmen on the way to the reception.
They were shocked and amused. For the record, no I was not driving.

Don’t get me wrong – I wasn’t running around in my bridesmaid dress and 4-inch heels trying to take photos either. I know when to step back. [Really, I do!] After the wedding was over, I sat back and questioned myself. Did I take too many pictures? Was I too intrusive? Should I have socialized with my friends and family more? While maybe yes to the last one, I don’t regret the way any of it played out. Being heavily involved in the wedding world myself, I know just how annoying the professional-photographer-guest can get [not them all, but many of them - you fellow photographers know what I'm talking about!]. And, I did everything not to be that girl. I kept my flash off at the reception until there was literally no light. Most of the time, I shot from my chair.

But, it was as I uploaded the shots later that night that I realized that I had not one morsel of regret. The smile on my brother’s face as he’s about to kiss his new wife. The joy in my SIL’s eyes as she plays with her nieces. The laughter on my mom’s face as she enjoys her last mother-son dance. These moments melted my heart. The photos from Jenna & Ryan’s wedding photographer are amazing. Like seriously amazing. Yet, I don’t regret what I did. Having captured those moments from my perspective provided me with unmatched satisfaction.

And then to the what had to have been the most fun I’ve ever seen guests have at a cocktail hour. Let this be a lesson to you, brides and grooms, if you’re going to have a photobooth, letting the guests have access to it during the cocktail hour is fabulous entertainment.

If I individually named all my pictures [I don't, if you were wondering - can you imagine how long that would take!?], this one below would undoubtedly be named “secrets don’t make friends.” And yet, it makes me giggle every time I see it.

I have no clue what dance they were doing here (below) but it was clearly something that made them get looooow.

The day started around 5AM [not kidding] to prepare the food, begin setting out the outfits, and start getting all the bridesmaids and groomsmen dressed in the proper attire. Naturally, this meant the photography started then as well. The ceremony is broken into seven parts. For your educational enjoyment, I listed them below. Suffice it to say that I am certain this translation is a meager attempt at best, but each and every part was bright, colorful, beautiful, and incredibly meaningful. I felt honored to be a part and was excited and eager to watch the progression of the day.

Because there were so many details and so much to see and include, I set this one up a little differently and went with the more collage feature-style images. Sometimes I think this style of presentation really features the details a little better. I don’t intend to do this on every wedding unless I get feedback that I should.
