Philadelphia Baby Photography: The Torok Family’s Ocean City Session

When I first saw James, I was practically in disbelief. Not only is he absolutely adorable – with the most pinch-able cheeks – but he also has the most impressively precious set of hair I have ever seen on a one-year-old. And, to top it all off, just wait until he grins… with his ONE BOTTOM TOOTH. If you have baby fever, you better strap yourself in for this session…

We started at their absolutely gorgeous house in Ocean City, New Jersey, and then made our way to their favorite spot on the beach to capture a few playing in the sand. Oh yea, and a little cake smashing. Can’t forget about that.

Enjoy!

And then the cake smash… LOOK AT THAT GRIN! People kept walking by on the boardwalk and couldn’t stop smiling at him. Can you blame them!?

Happy Birthday, James!!

P.S. In an effort to make up for my awful blogging habits, I’ve taken to regularly posting on my Facebook page (as in, several times a week!). So, if you want to stay up-to-date and get all the latest sneak peeks, specials, etc. make sure to follow along over there and like the page. xo.

Philadelphia Portrait Photography: Chris & Yiu Tak’s Maternity Session

Beyond working with babies and children, I think maternity sessions are a close second of one of my favorite things to shoot. There is something about a maternity session that’s so sweet. The excitement of getting to finally meet this little being that they have been hoping, waiting, and planning for. The anticipation of such a wonderful change that is going to change their lives forever in a matter of moments. Something about it is, well, even at the risk of sounding totally corny, it’s just magical. I love it.

Yiu Tak & Chris were a perfect example of a couple like this. They were so excited about their newborn baby boy! And, we had so much fun wandering capturing a few moments for them to enjoy and reflect back on later in life. Don’t they look so peaceful and ready? Such a pleasure getting to capture such a special time for them.

Enjoy the images! xo.

Published: Philadelphia Family Magazine

When I first got their e-mail I was definitely pinching myself. And, of course, I’ve been keeping things under wraps for quite some time now. So, I’m pretty excited to shout from the rooftops about my most recent feature in Philadelphia Family Magazine – and on the cover, no less! In fact, you can check out my work on the cover, TOC, and page 53.

Many thanks and much love to so many of my wonderful clients who made this possible; I certainly couldn’t do it without you. Check out newsstands next week for the physical issue.

Happiness

I heard a quote a long time ago about happiness by the talented Alice Walker that really struck a chord. I was reminded of it recently, and, just like the first time, it resonated deeply with me.

Don’t wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get you’ve got to make yourself.

It is hard to remember that sometimes, but it’s true: the best way to find happiness is to create it for yourself. If you wait for someone else to do it you could be waiting a lifetime. And – better yet – people who create happiness for themselves tend to make OTHERS happy, which then comes full circle. It’s a beautiful thing.

Speaking of which, I’ve spoken before about my happy place. Here’s another one of those images:

Philadelphia Family Photography: The Reddy Family

Do you hear the crickets? Yea, I know it has been a lot of silence around these parts. GUILTY AS CHARGED. But, rather than harping on that, let’s talk about what fun I have to share instead:

Getting ready to pack their bags for Chicago, the Reddy family contacted me for some portraits capturing the essence of Philadelphia before they left. And, what says Philly more than the art museum!? We picked a June morning and were fortunate with no rain amidst weeks of thunderstorms [what was that, by the way!?].

Though, I must admit, it was sweltering in the 90s, even at 10AM. So, kudos to them for making it look easy. I assure you: I was a much, much sweatier mess than they were!
