Philadelphia Engagement Photography: Kim & Geoff’s Old City Session

I met Kim about four years ago. In fact, she might have been one of the first people I met when I moved to Philadelphia, which is pretty awesome! Even more awesome? Kim told me at their engagement session that she knew soon after meeting me that I would be the one to eventually shoot her wedding. Seriously, does it get more flattering than that?! And lo and behold, here we are four years later — and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding next January at the Stotesbury Mansion (love that place!).

Kim and Geoff, being totally crazy, decided to sneak in their engagement session just a couple days before they moved out of the country. So there we were, on one of the last days of 2013, freezing our behinds off in the name of some fun engagement pictures. But, these two couldn’t have been better sports about it… which is good I guess since they’ll be getting married in about the same weather next year. Anyway, here are just a few favorites from our afternoon together. Enjoy! xo.

Mary Anne Wood - Fantastic photos Amanda. From just these few pics I can tell you’ve captured what we love about Kim and Geoff. Can’t wait to see the rest!

Philadelphia Portrait Photography: The Quigley Family

I know I am a little late in blogging this one. But while everyone is still in the holiday spirit I thought I ought to share a few favorites from the Quigley family’s recent holiday-inspired shoot. Cora’s grandmother had hand-knitted her a scarf and santa hat for the session and, well, the results were too cute not to share.

Here is hoping that you all have been enjoying some smiles with your families. Happy holidays, friends!

Then we snuck inside for a few with twinkle lights. I just can’t resist a baby with twinkle lights. 😉

Featured: Interview with ALH Designs

So, this post comes as long overdue, but the sweet, incredibly talented April from ALH Designs featured an interview with me on her blog earlier this month (how is it already mid-December, by the way?!). In it, I gush about a few of my favorite gadgets as a photographer, talk about some of the big challenges wedding photographers face, and share some of my favorite images from the last year. Please click on over, check it out, and leave us some love.

Philadelphia Portrait Photography: Vanessa & Jorge’s Tenth Anniversary

Those of you who have worked with me this fall, may recognize Vanessa. She is my incredibly talented friend and frequent second shooter. When she came to me and asked if I would shoot some images for her and her husband for their TENTH anniversary, I was flattered and excited. Now, when you peek at the images, you may be thinking – holy cow how have they been together for ten years!? To be honest, I asked myself the same thing. THEY LOOK WAY TOO YOUNG FOR THAT. But, then I remind myself that my husband and I have been together for a similar length of time and – well, I like to believe anyway – that we also look that young. Maybe that’s just me dreaming though, ha.

Nonetheless, Vanessa and Jorge, like other photographers I’ve had the pleasure of capturing, were incredibly easy to work with. Vanessa had a vision for the shoot – which I loved – but also was flexible to let me insert some of my vision. But really, I think you could put Vanessa in that dress just about anywhere and heads would keep on turning. And, Jorge, of course, isn’t too shabby either. 😉 My favorite part though? That to me the love is palpable between them – both in person and, I believe, in the images.

Vanessa and Jorge – thank you for letting me capture this moment in time. You guys are THE CUTEST. And, though I’ll never let Jorge drive me anywhere again, I do hope I get to see you both soon! (You knew there was going to be a driving joke here, right?) And, V, I’m so so thankful to have met you and gotten the chance to work with you this year. I truly couldn’t think more of you! xoxo.

FAVORITE. Oh man. I couldn’t even pick between color and B&W. Please don’t make me.

Sorry… this one again. I just love it in color too. Vanessa, you are GORGEOUS.

And then a quick outfit change… you’d never believe it but it was totally dusk during this next set. We just barely got them!

Jenna - LOVE! So beautiful, Amanda! Her dress is killer! I wanna look that great 10 years into marriage but I have to remind myself that I’m 10 years older than you! :) And oh YAY for blogging!!!!November 15, 2013 – 6:59 PM

Vanessa Marie - I know I’ve said this about a 100 times already, but I can not get over these! Not only did you do an amazing job capturing Jorge and I, but you made us both so comfortable in front of your lens. Love you to the moon and back.

P.S. Jorge grunted at your response and mumbled, “far from it…” Haha.November 21, 2013 – 12:22 PM

Philadelphia Engagement Photography: Kelly & Kevin

I have about 308294051 sessions to blog that were shot in the past few months, but today’s post is special. You see, my dear sweet friend Kelly is getting married this weekend. We shot Kelly and Kevin’s engagement session in the spring and since Kelly is (a) also a talented photographer and (b) really into social media/online networking, she shared some of the images online herself (with my permission, of course) despite the fact I hadn’t blogged them. She has even teased me about how long after the wedding it will take me to blog it.

Anyway, I figured as a good start to kick off their wedding weekend, I’d share a few favorites from their engagement. We had fun wandering around downtown and exploring the area. As you can tell, they have pretty awesome personalities, which makes my job easy. I can’t wait to do it all over again with them on Sunday at their WEDDING.

To Kelly & Kevin – I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND. Thanks for being awesome and trusting my sometimes questionable ideas. I am so excited for you guys and the life ahead of you and so excited to be able to capture it! xox.

Kelly is REALLY into theater, and this is right outside their reception venue: The Walnut Street Supper Club. So all over this image has meaning. One of my favorites for sure!

Becki - Kelly, your eyes pop like crazy in that second-to-last one. Wow! I love these!November 15, 2013 – 7:40 PM
