A few weekends ago I had the privilege to shoot the baptism of sweet Baby Zoe at St. George Cathedral and the reception aftermath at Del Frisco’s on Chestnut Street. If you aren’t familiar, St. George Cathedral is a fabulous Greek Orthodox church in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. Like most Greek Orthodox churches, the interior – with it’s incredible detail and extensive design – leaves nothing to be desired.
And, little baby Zoe was just as sweet as ever. It was apparent that her mom put a lot of thought and work into the details of the lunch to follow and it was fun to be able to capture them. And, on a personal level, particularly fascinating for me. I was also baptized Greek Orthodox oh so many years ago. And, the traditions of the Greek Orthodox church make the ceremony fabulously unique. It was spectacular to get to watch and capture that. Here are a few of the highlights:
Loved this reaction [below]. The whole ceremony involves the baby being changed a few times, and this was on the last go-around. It was almost as if she was reacting to it. Too cute.
And onto the fabulous reception… Internet, meet the wonderful Del Frisco’s.
The room… is a vault. Pretty cool, no?
The photo on the right is because she’s expecting another little bundle of joy this winter.
She’s such a gorgeous pregnant woman, isn’t she?
And – get this – the hired entertainment for the children. A group musical fest that was adorable.
And, I have to say, some of the adults looked to be having just as much fun as the kids with this!
I’ve been tempted to put this one [below] as my desktop wallpaper because it makes me giggle every time. This face wasn’t even a reaction to anything other than me taking a picture of him. Pretty great, no?
